Today I just felt the need to see the ocean. Do any of you have days like that? It really isn't far from us so we drove Route 1 along the coast starting at Guilford Center. We found a lovely beach where I picked up gorgeous shells and made some photos. Then we drove through Madison (picturesque) and on to Old Saybrook. The weather was perfect, the sky and water a bright blue. The foliage was colorful and I loved seeing all the picket fences and the beautiful churches. Since it was my birthday, we did everything I wanted, even stopping at Blue Moon Artisans Shop where I could drool over the crafts. Snack was French fries and senior cokes at McDonalds. What a great day we had!

Very best wishes for a happy birthday and what a great way to spend it!! There is nothing better than a walk along a beach, sand between your toes and paddling in the sea with the one you love!

Happy Birthday! You are lucky to live so close to the ocean. I would love that. We do live about 30 minutes away from Lake Erie so if I really want to see a large body of water I can go there..or we can drive 2 hours east to Lake Huron or west to Lake Michigan!

Happy birthday, my friend! What a wonderful way to spend it -- doing exactly as you please! I often have days when the ocean beckons me. Usually after the tourists have returned home and the beach once again belongs to us locals. Love the photo you took feels like HOME.
