My Craft Room

I'm hooked on having a craft room! Join the Hooked on Houses Friday Blog party and post about one of your favorite things. These pictures are from my craft room. It is wonderful to have a place to work where I don't have to put it all away every time. I am rather undisciplined and I like to work on several projects at once. This shelf unit is great because it is so deep and sturdy. Stacks of fabric really need more than a twelve inch deep shelf.
Here is my Fabric Fairy guarding my fabric collection. I love to buy fabric and just look at it and I swear that one day I will use it all! I am inspired by seeing all my materials so I l keep them out in the open.
I like to group my fabrics loosely by color. The basket is full of ribbons and netting.
Just like you can never have enough fabric (and craft supplies in general) you can certainly never have enough thread. Even with several drawers like this, sometimes I don't have the right color!

Do you have a craft room? Even a shelf unit in a corner of the dining room or bedroom is a good start. It is easier to work when your materials are all in one place.

Our crafters have all flown our coop. But if they had a craft room, they'd certainly have a TV. Your shelf thing looks great, like it was made for the task.

What a great craft area! I have a little desk with my sewing machine and some other supplies on it. I haven't used my sewing machine for a long time though :(

Hi - your cat is lovely! I ahve three, and Fatpuss is named Fatpuss for a REASON. Lordy, he just sits around all day, he hates to exercise ... very much like me in that respect ...

I love the photo of your thread, it makes such a pretty rainbow of color. I have some thread, but a lot of times, I'm too lazy to wind a new bobbin, lol.

I don't have a craft room, but I do have a walk-in craft closet in my office. Seeing how neat your craft room is has inspired me to organize my craft closet.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

I love that unique shelf! I too love to look at colorful fabric. I've made many quilts over the years. But I still have lots of fabric just sitting there being gazed at! Now I do more decoupage and paper crafts. Thanks for inspiring me to do more! And yes, I'm sitting in my garden room, which is a "woman's" living room plus craft room. Just had it redone this year to better serve my needs!

You have a great craft room, Nancy! And everything is organized and at your fingertips. I think I would be more inspired if I could see stacks of lovely fabric and spools of thread. You are so lucky to have the space!

Happy crafting!! :-)

What a great shelf unit! I love the mini ledges on the sides, and that it inspires you to have all your supplies in view.
Clever fairy, too.

I love the look of fabric as well. And having a place to have it out is fabulous! Someday I will have a true craft room.

Just a lil wish here -- that i could become so ultra talented that i could put to use a lovely craft room that you have created.

Just the perfect spot for someone as talented as you to gain inspiration.

Thanks so much for stopping at my blog and leaving a lovely message.

Love the picture of the thread!

I am lucky enough to have the entire living/dining area of the granny flat ( not sure whether that is an Australian term, or widely recognised?) under our house as my studio. My partner got the flat's bedroom as HIS studio! (much smaller, poor him... :-) Having somewhere you can spread out is so important to the process!

Love your craft room.

I too always work on several projects at once.

I have lots of Ikea storage boxes on a large double bookcase in our dining room - I work in the dining room, the kitchen, or in front of the TV :)

I adore that shelf unit. What a wonderful craft room you have! My long range plan includes a craft room in a separate building on our property. I'll just have to walk a few feet from our back door. For the time being, I have a 'sewing area' and a 'jewelry-making area' in our little farmhouse.. sorry to say, both areas are very unkempt right now ;-) (btw.. Enjoyed my first visit to your Porch!) - Tammy
