Moon Struck

This is a photo montage created in Photoshop Elements. I started by taking a photo of the full moon through the trees. That became the center. I added the photos of the white orchid, the bird and a scan of a vintage book page. This all went on a background I created. Lastly was the addition of the tiny white spots that look like Christmas lights. The border color was chosen by taking a brown from the picture.

The name "Moon Struck" seems to be appropriate.

Impressionist Vase of Flowers on Blue

More snow today. Six more inches on top of what is already out there. It was beautiful coming down and totally covered every limb and stick. After shoveling the front walk so the corn for the turkeys would not get buried in the snow, I decided to create another Nancy Olivia Designs original. This one is rather different for me. I suppose it good to not be in a rut!

Icy Stream Abstract Art

This art started with a photograph of an icy stream with snow on the edges. I revisited what I created many times and kept making changes. Finally I decided I needed to put it aside for a while. Tonight I took another look and was very happy with my end product.

Cat in the Laundry

This is Big Guy whose favorite place is the guest room bed. He couldn't wait to snuggle into a pile of clean laundry that was waiting to be folded. Maybe he was trying to keep it warm since it had just come out of the clothes dryer.

Living in a Tiny House - A Tricycle House

Tiny Houses are much in the news these days. I love to look at pictures of houses people built themselves on a trailer base for only a few thousand dollars. While I admire the principles of consuming less, I don't think I could live in that small a space. Still, I like to dream. Here is the ultimate tiny house -  Tricycle House. Do you think it will catch on? It is expandable and two can be joined.

Design in Red and Pink with a Little Green

Do you like to play around with your Photoshop or other software? In doing so I came up with the idea to create a cutout design on a photo then put it on a colored background.

Here is the cutout design.

Here is the design on a color.

From there you can put the design on different colors and then put those blocks together like this. Don't you think this would make a nice design on a card or a bag?

Try this for yourself. The possibilities are endless!
Maybe cutout the colored block and place it on a photo.

Art at Shattered Pallette Gallery in Putman, CT

The opening reception for the show "Winter" at the Shattered Pallette, 156 Main Street, Putnam, Ct had a large turn out in spite of the bitterly cold weather. It was a chance to visit with other artists and potential customers. Christinia and James did a wonderful job on finishing the interior of their recently opened gallery

Here you can see some of the guests. There are two rooms in addition to this main room.

I am standing in front of my five pieces in the show. The unframed one is printed on canvas.

Some of the other artists who work I viewed that night are Edward Santos, Aline Hoffmann, Christinia Hammon, Steve R. Veilleux, and Roy Cordova.

Reflections in Yellow and Green

Doesn't everyone love reflections? Sometimes, like in this photo, they are abstract art.
This seems to shimmer.

Cat in the Covers

There was a reason I couldn't get my bed made. See that dark spot?

Maci did not wish to be disturbed!

Sunflowers on Stripes

It never ceases to amaze me how many new photos can be created from one original. Considering how many backgrounds can be added and how many color variations and patterns there are, one photo can equal thousands.

Wild Turkeys at the Bird Feeder

These wild turkeys decided to share with the small birds and woodpeckers. They check out the feeder several times a day.
